We are delighted to share that a memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Department of State Education Research and Training (DSERT), Karnataka and Schools and Teachers Innovating for Results (India) on 27th July 2022. This agreement builds on our long-term partnership with DSERT and formally extends our joint project to every district in the state.
The academic year of 2022-2023 has been declared the learning recovery year by the government of Karnataka. To fulfill this, DSERT has designed an accelerated learning programme with the support of Azim Premji University, called the ‘Kalika Chetharike’ or ‘Learning Recovery’, where they have provided training to teachers and learning material for classrooms across Karnataka.
The STiR India will support DSERT in this programme in the following ways –
- Implementation of Kalika Chetharike programme in accordance with the plan.
- Intrinsically motivate children, teachers and officials.
- Design training tools and materials.
- Facilitate training sessions and build the capacity of stakeholders.
- Co-design monitoring and evaluation framework.
- Guiding, encouraging and ensuring that teachers are implementing programme activities.
- Sharing best practices with teachers and officials.
- Guiding teachers to do action research with regard to challenges they face in facilitating learning activities.
- Conducting “Dipstick study – A sample-based survey” on Kalika Chetarike initiative.
“We look forward to supporting the schools and teachers in Karnataka while working in partnership with DSERT and CIM. Together, we will strive to strengthen the education system in the state so that every child receives a quality education.” – Swaha Sahoo, India Country Director, STiR Education, India.
