January media round-up

January has been a busy month, and we wanted to share some of our external media highlights.

First, our new CEO Girish Menon took part in a panel discussion as part of The International Education & Skills Summit (TIESS), organised by India Didactics Association. Girish spoke alongside Alison Bellwood (Creator and Director, World’s Largest Lesson), Serdar Ferit (CEO and Founder, Lyfta) and H.E. Dr. Abdulla Rasheed (Minister of State for Education, Government of Republic of Maldives). The panel sought to answer the questions: Can we always do more by working in community than we can individually? What strategies should we adopt and what cultures should we nurture to encourage communities’ power? We’re very grateful to have been invited to take part in this event, and you can watch the recording in full below.

STiR was also featured in an article marking the International Day of Education on 24 January. This article, produced by our partners at the Teacher Task Force, outlined how members of the task force plan to join forces and combine resources to support the recovery from Covid-19 and move forward in support of teachers. You can read this article here.

Finally, we’re pleased to share our contribution to the RewirED Talks project led by Dubai Cares and Expo 2020 Dubai. This initiative offers everyone the opportunity to host and participate in meaningful conversations on education, and STiR was very happy to be able to share a discussion featuring six members of our team across our different geographies. In the video, we talk about the purpose of education, what makes our team optimistic about the future of education and how we might reimagine the role of teachers. You can find our video in the section ‘What’s been discussed’ on this page.
