STiR is delighted to announce the extension of our memorandum of understanding with the Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT) in Karnataka until July 2022. This extension shows the continued commitment from both parties to our project in the state, and gives us a further year to formalise our plans for increased state ownership to support long-term sustainability.
Our project in Karnataka currently reaches officials, teachers and children in eight districts. However, we’re particularly excited that as part of our revised agreement, the content from our network meetings will now be shared across every district of the state. We will also work increasingly closely with the Design Taskforce to create content to strengthen a culture of improvement and feedback across the state.
Neha Drolia, Associate Head at STiR, said: “This is another important step for the development of our programme in Karnataka, and we’re so grateful to the DSERT for their continued belief in our work. We’re looking forward to the next year in partnership with senior officials as we co-create this programme together to build a love of learning throughout the education system.”
Mr. M. R. Maruthi, DSERT Director, said: “This year 2021-2022, we are conducting sharing meetings on five topics that have been designed by DSERT and STIR together focusing on social and emotional wellbeing, delivered virtually because of the pandemic situation. In order to effectively facilitate this, we are focusing on building professional skills for our teachers and officials.”
