STiR appoints new Uganda Country Director

STiR Education is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Uganda Country Director to our leadership team. Modern Musiimenta Karema joins the organisation today to lead our work across Uganda, which is currently reaching more than 2 million children and 60,000 teachers in 31 districts and 8 municipal counties.

Modern joins us from Educate!, an organisation tackling youth unemployment in East Africa, where he worked in a number of senior roles in both Uganda and Rwanda over the past four years. In his most recent roles as Head of National Programmes in Uganda and Head of Programme Implementation in Rwanda, he was responsible for leading programme implementation and scale, and  managing government partnerships.

Modern said: “I’m really pleased to be joining STiR, as I’ve been aware of their work for some time and am inspired by the strong partnership that they have been able to build with the Ministry of Education and Sports. I am looking forward to working with a great new team to support the Ugandan system to reignite intrinsic motivation in every teacher and official, to role-model the foundations of lifelong learning for every child.”

Please join us in welcoming Modern to his new role!
