STiR Education Engages in NAMUDEO Annual General Meeting to Champion Teacher Motivation for Quality Education

From 26th to 28th February 2025, STiR Education had the privilege of participating in the National Association of Municipal and District Education Officers (NAMUDEO) Annual General Meeting in Kapchorwa District, Uganda.

STiR Education made a key presentation on the role of teacher motivation in enhancing the quality of teaching and learning. We also shared practical strategies that the Ministry of Education and Sports, District/Municipal and City Education Officials, and Headteachers can implement to support and motivate teachers, creating an enabling environment for them to thrive.

The event was officially closed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Sports, Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda, who strongly emphasized the need to strengthen early-grade reading and numeracy. In her address, she stated:

“If our children cannot learn to read in their first three years of school (age 8), then they will not be able to read to learn. This leads to dropping out of school.”

She urged Local Governments and Development Partners to revamp early-grade reading and numeracy as a key priority in achieving quality education. She reinforced that every child matters and, when provided with an enabling learning environment, can reach their full potential regardless of their background.

At STiR Education, we remain committed to working closely with Ugandan education stakeholders to ensure that each teacher loves teaching, and each child loves learning. Through our efforts, we continue to introduce and train teachers on evidence-based teaching strategies that enhance the learning experience by fostering a safe learning environment and supporting learners in understanding and retaining knowledge in the long term.

We call upon all key stakeholders to champion teacher motivation as a crucial driver of quality education. Together, we can create a system where teachers feel valued and empowered, ultimately benefiting every learner in Uganda.
