We are very excited to share the news of our first workshop in Ethiopia this week. This has been an important first step towards the launch of our activities in the country, and it has been a fantastic opportunity to build our understanding about how our programme might work within the Ethiopian system.
We were pleased to be joined by representatives from different departments of the Ministry of Education, which gave us a strong representation of views from across the sector. We identified clear alignment with the work of the School Improvement Program (SIP) Directorate, and are looking forward to building a closer relationship with our government colleagues as we work towards a memorandum of understanding. The School Improvement Program Directorate has also kindly agreed to be our host while working with other stakeholder departments, and they have shown their commitment to this project through a Letter of Intent. They have also assigned a team of three experts to work closely with STiR on the project proposal, programme co-design and contextualisation, which will be led personally by the Director General.
Masresha Beniam, STiR’s Senior Programme Consultant in Ethiopia, said: “We’d like to thank the School Improvement Program Directorate for co-organising the workshop with us and all of the other department representatives for taking their time to provide us with their valuable inputs. We are looking forward to working with the Ministry of Education and supporting their development of the programme in the coming months.”
