STiR was delighted to host a visit today to our work in Kiboga district in Uganda from the National Commissioner for Basic and Primary Education, Dr. Cleophus Mugenyi. The Commissioner attended one of our training institutes for School Education Leaders (a representative from each school in the district), which prepares them to run our network meetings in their schools. This institute, which is led by district officials with support from STiR, was attended by more than 100 school leaders.
We were very grateful for the engagement and participation from the Commissioner, who also gave an address to the delegates. Dr. Mugenyi said: “We appreciate STiR because wherever they work in the country, they deliver. We need to make sure that this kind of programme is scaled up to the whole country.”
STiR’s Uganda Country Director Jess Talbot said: “We thank the Commissioner for his time in coming to visit our work in Kiboga. We will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Education and Sports to build the capacity of officials across our 39 districts to lead our approach, so that together we can reignite the intrinsic motivation of every teacher to develop a true love of learning in their children.”
