We’ve now been working to reignite intrinsic motivation in education systems for 10 years. We wanted to mark this anniversary by celebrating the work we have done so far in India, Uganda and Indonesia, and by looking ahead to what we hope to achieve going forward.

Today, we commemorated our anniversary with a special celebration with key partners at the Palace of Westminster in London. More than 40 guests joined us to hear from our Chair Jo Owen, former CEO Sharath Jeevan, keynote speaker Alicia Herbert from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and members of our senior team. You can see many highlights of this event on our social media channels.

As part of the celebration, we also commissioned a report to tell the story of our first decade. We’re delighted to be able to share this report here

Jo Owen, Founder and Chair, says “10 years ago we started STiR with a challenge and a dream. School enrolment was at record levels, but in many cases, student outcomes were actually falling. Our dream was for every child to love learning, and every teacher to love teaching. The past 10 years at STiR have been a rollercoaster journey with great highs and challenging lows. Our work is possible only thanks to our wonderful partners in government, funders, NGO partners and our brilliant staff. Thank you for helping us to get this far, and I hope you will continue into our next chapter.”
