North Central Timor, 6 March 2024 – Officials from the District Education Agency of North Central Timor (TTU) district gathered on February 20th and 21st, 2024, for the first District Champion bootcamp. The event brought together esteemed District Champions, including Kristianus Naben, S.Pd, SD, and Stefanus Kobesi, S.Pd, who represented school supervisors.

The collaboration between Bakti Barito Foundation and STiR Education entered into a partnership with TTU last year to improve the competence of qualified educators across all levels of the education system and thus improve children’s learning outcomes. This is the first training camp set up by the programme since the partnership has been formalised.

Under the theme of “Growth Mindset,” the bootcamp marked the inception of the first Learning Improvement Cycle (LIC) in TTU. The growth mindset philosophy underscores the belief that abilities can be honed through dedication and hard work, fostering a culture of resilience and lifelong learning. School supervisors and principals, embracing this mindset, recognise failures as opportunities for growth, investing additional time and effort to overcome challenges and achieve greater success.

A pivotal strategy introduced during the bootcamp is the concept of ‘normalising errors’ in network meetings. This innovative approach empowers teachers to embrace mistakes as integral parts of the learning process, fostering a supportive classroom environment where students are encouraged to learn from errors and grow.

Finsensius Th. Amfotis, SP, Section Head of the District Education Agency, TTU, lauded the initiative, stating, “This is the first programme in TTU that targets all education stakeholders, including the District Education Agency, school supervisors, principals and teachers. We anticipate significant positive impacts on TTU students.”

The District Champion Bootcamp marks a milestone in TTU’s education landscape, signaling a collective commitment to nurturing a growth-oriented mindset and fostering excellence in education. As TTU continues its journey of educational transformation, stakeholders are poised to unlock the full potential of every student through dedication, resilience, and a belief in growth.
