South West B is one of the largest districts of Delhi National Capital Territory. When STiR starting working in the district in 2017, the Delhi government was making a significant investment in infrastructural upgrades to schools, but there was no culture of academic discourse or sharing best practice among teachers. There was also no culture of appreciation or recognition at any level of the system.

STiR worked to increase the synchronisation between the different government departments responsible for education in the district, and to change the narrative around teachers. We built engagement with the programme among senior officials and established forums for information sharing between departments. As a result, the district now has a common action plan and greater clarity about how to achieve programme success, while teacher attendance and engagement have also improved.
