Our Delhi programme team is pleased to share an update from the annual meeting of our Lifelong Learning Unit, which was organised today at the India Habitat Centre in Delhi. The objective of this meeting was to reflect on the impact of our Teacher Development Coordinator (TDC) programme in partnership with the state government in Delhi, sharing key findings from recent research and planning for greater sustainability of this project going forward.

Our panellists included Shri Shailendra Sharma (Principal Advisor to the Director of Education), Dr. B. P. Pandey (Officer on Special Duty, Department of Education), Dr. Nahar Singh (Joint Director, State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT)), Dr. Md. Zamir (Principal, B. Ed., SCERT), Dr. Anil Teotia (Principal, District Institute for Education and Training (DIET), Dilshad Garden) and Ms. Swaha Sahoo (India Country Director at STiR).

Shri Shailendra Sharma shared: “STiR Education came up with a beautiful model and have envisaged the sustainability of this programme since its inception in 2017. The best thing about the TDC programme has been that STiR has supported it as a knowledge partner, but never sought to associate its name. The programme has uniquely helped to bridge hierarchies at all levels and brought together the SCERT and DIETs in leading the programme between the state and districts. This kind of approach is significant for its long-term sustainability. As we now move forward, it is important to enhance the quality of the programme and ensure that the system can take complete ownership while retaining its core objectives of fostering intrinsic motivation amongst educators and children.”

Swaha Sahoo said: “We’re grateful to all of the panellists and attendees for joining us for this important session. STiR Education is incredibly proud of what we have been able to achieve in partnership with the Delhi government through this TDC programme, and look forward to deeper engagement at all levels over the next year.”
