We are delighted to announce that STiR has recently welcomed new members to our Global Council and Board of Trustees. We are glad to form an association with these remarkable individuals with a rich professional backgrounds and look forward to their insights into our work over the coming years.

Bijoya Banerjea joined us on our Board of Trustees. She is an international development professional with 20 years of global experience in programme and operational management, as well as resource mobilisation in NGOs and for-profit organisations. She currently leads partnership development at the Union for International Cancer Control.

She says, STiR plays a unique role in improving educational outcomes for children which is critical to building a more equitable, resilient and prosperous world. In just 10 years the impact of its work is evident. I am excited and honoured to be able to contribute to the next phase of STiR’s mission.”

Pratik Dattani is our new Global Council Member. He is the CEO of a boutique firm – Economic Policy Group, with offices in the UK, India and Uganda. He sits on the Board of a think tank and was a Director for India’s largest chamber of commerce. He previously worked in international arbitration and has published academic work on behavioural economics and social impact measurement.

Pratik says, “The global pandemic saw school closures and continued underfunding of education around the world. Initiatives which take a system-wide approach to engaging officials, school leaders, teachers and students to fall in love with education again have economy-wide multiplier effects. For this reason, I am delighted to be able to support STiR Education deliver on its ambitions.”

Sarah Washington has also joined our Board of Trustees. She is a senior charity sector leader with 20 years of experience in fundraising, communications and engagement. She also sits on the board of PhotoVoice and is the Director of External Relations at Mission 44. She has spent most of her career in international development and humanitarian response with a passion for education and social justice.

Sarah says, “ STiR plays a credible role in working with international governments to sustainably improve the learning outcomes of children. I feel privileged to be joining STiR’s Board of Trustees, supporting the team as it moves into the next phase of its development. With the impacts of climate change, technological advances and increasing inequalities, I’m excited to join an international organisation that has demonstrated incredible impact on building the motivations and resilience of teachers and children, enabling them to face new challenges with new opportunities.”
