North East district is one of the most populated areas of Delhi, and in 2015, it was considered to be the most challenging district. So STiR selected the district for our first intervention in government schools (in collaboration with the education department). In 2017, we started working in every secondary school in the district.
The STiR District Lead works with each actor in the system (including government officials, school leaders and teachers) to help them to understand their roles in successful programme implementation, and to improve their motivation and mindsets. In this district, we needed to engage senior officials, gain the support of headteachers, motivate local officials and encourage data sharing across the system. As a result, we have seen a positive mindset shift across all actors, and a significant increase in engagement with our activities.
