This week, STiR has been featured on the World Bank Teachers Podcast which features conversations with the World Bank Teachers team. In the most recent episode, John McIntosh (Director of Design and Programme Readiness at STiR) joined Tara Beteille (Senior Economist in the World Bank’s East Asia Pacific Region and the Human Development Program Leader for Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar) and Shwetlena Sabarwal (Senior Economist with the Education Global Practice and Global Lead on Education and Climate Change) to discuss intrinsic motivation and its impact on student and teacher classroom performance.

The conversation addresses the best ways for educational administrators and policymakers to motivate students and teachers to enhance overall performance in the classroom. John says: “Fostering intrinsic motivation really does matter now more than ever. The needs of students and teachers are more complex than ever – in addition to questions of learning loss, Covid-enforced isolations are linked to a whole variety of mental health and social emotional needs. It’s really important that we’re responding to these, so STiR will be more deeply listening to and understanding the needs of teachers and officials on the ground, and trying to ensure that the content of our programming contributes to these needs.”

We’re very grateful to the World Bank team for inviting us to take part in this podcast. You can listen to it in full on Spotify here, on Apple Podcasts here, or on Listen Notes here.
