We are delighted to share that we have recently been featured in local media in Uganda on several occasions. Our Country Director Modern Musiimenta Karema has talked about various educational challenges and solutions in Uganda in these publications.

In the New Vision,  he talks about how the new curriculum has helped advance the face of education in the country. The new methodologies of this curriculum are less tiring for the teachers as they are facilitating learning by making sessions learner-centred instead of delivering a monotonous lecture. Children are learning through practical activities which stimulate collaborative work in the classroom. This has also helped teachers to build relationships with their students, encouraging them to interact freely with confidence. Students are also building relevant professional skills like public speaking, critical thinking, problem-solving and others which are important for their future careers. We’re pleased to be supporting the roll-out of the new curriculum through our work in secondary schools.

Also in the New Vision, Modern has stated various challenges that girls face while pursuing their education in schools. As per Sustainable Development Goal 4, we need to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. In the article, Modern asks crucial questions for the development of girls and to promote equity in Ugandan schools. This aligns closely with STiR’s efforts to build safe and equitable classrooms for children in Uganda.

Modern featured in a third New Vision story about children starting school late here. He was also featured in the Monitor to share a perspective on student loans. And on The Monitor’s podcast, Modern took part in a conversation with Mr Stephen Mukitale and Dr Fred Muhumuza on gun violence, Katonga flooding and vocational education.

We are grateful to all the news agencies who give us a platform to voice our concerns and solutions for the cause. We are also proud of our team in Uganda who have worked really hard to gain this national recognition of our work.
